Nativ Vita: Network Music Player
- Why can I not import music even though my hard drive has plenty of space? Mehr erfahren
This problem is likely caused by the fact that the 32 GB flash based EMMS memory is full. The importing process requires some of the EMMS memory for processing of data before it is stored on the internal HDD. Please delete some of the music services you have installed on your Vita.
You can find the status of the EMMS memory under Settings > System > Storage1
- Why does my Vita not download any music service? Mehr erfahren
Please check which software version is installed on your Vita. You can find this under Settings > System > Software. If it is 1.4.0 please update to 1.5.0 and this will resolve the issue. As this software requires a firmware update it can only be installed via USB. You can download the software here: https://www.nativsound.com/en/software/software-release-15
- Why does some music not show up after import to the Vita? Mehr erfahren
If you have copied music to the internal hard drives of the Vita please wait a certain time for the Vita to finish indexing the music into the local database. This usually takes about the same time as the copy process (e.g. if it took 1 hour to copy the music to the Vita it will take about another hour to index it).
If the music still does not show up then please initiate a manual synchronization in the settings. If the synchronization does not help, please do a rebuild.
P.S. If you are using MP3TAG to edit the metadata of your music please be aware of the following setting:
Before you add new tags for display and editing to the main window, open the MP3Tag Options menu and select “Tags”. Please set the read, write and remove properties according to your preference. This is important as MP3Tag allows you to write different frame structures (e.g. IDv2.3 and APE) into one audio file. We recommend to use only one frame structure to avoid issues.4
- Which streaming services are supported on the Nativ Vita? Mehr erfahren
We are adding new streaming services to the Vita frequently. Here is the list of all the services we currently support:
- Amazon Music
- Apple Music

- Why can I not wake the Vita from the Smartphone apps? Mehr erfahren
This usually only happens in rare instances and we recommend to allocate a fixed IP address for the Vita in this case (as opposed to using DHCP).4
Nativ Wave: USB DAC & Headphone Amp
- Do the volume control & gain settings work for both audio & headphone outputs? Mehr erfahren
The volume control on the Nativ Wave DAC & Headphone Amplifier works for both the analog outputs and the headphone output. The gain settings are for the analog outputs only.1
- What audio input do you recommend? Mehr erfahren
To achieve the best sound quality we recommend to connect your digital audio source — such as the Nativ Vita or PC/Mac — via USB to Nativ Wave.
Here is why:
The fundamental problem with S/PDIF and AES is that they both “fold” digital audio data and clock signals into a single bit stream. The clock doesn’t have a cable of its own, and must be “extracted” from the incoming bits by logic in the receiving device. This process is typically performed by a circuit called PLL (phase locked loop) which adds a certain amount of jitter.
Adaptive or isochronous USB makes the computer the bus master, which then controls the rate at which the data is sent to the “downstream” audio device. The audio device is slaved to the computer clock. This is actually worse than a connection via S/PDIF or AES.6
The Nativ Wave DAC — like most serious audiophile DACs — features an asynchronous USB mode. In this mode the DAC becomes the bus master, and no longer has to rely upon noisy clocks generated by the computer or its USB interface logic. To eliminate jitter the Nativ Wave DAC uses an ultra-low jitter master clock generator. The master clock oscillator is placed right next to the D/A conversion chips and directly provides them with the clock reference. This clock distribution concept guarantees the best possible jitter performance.
- Why are you using a Burr Brown DAC and not the ESS Sabre? Mehr erfahren
The ESS series is a fully integrated D/A solution with integrated processing. Many brands use them as they are much easier to implement compared to a design with separate components (such as DSP, FPGA and TI DACs). Although they deliver impressive specs they are not always very well perceived by the audiophile community. Some say they are very good at delivering impressive numbers, but not the best for reproducing music. In our humble opinion the TI Burr Brown DSD1792A DAC provides superior musicality to ESS based solutions.Another big plus is that the DSD1792A allows real DSD decoding, while the ESS converts DSD data into PCM. Using the DSD1792A gives us complete control over the data path and processing chain, and allows us to implement our proprietary algorithms in the DSP to deliver an amazing music experience.10

Nativ Disc: CD Ripper
- Why do my CDs not rip or show up on the Nativ Vita? Mehr erfahren
If the CDs you rip just take a very short time to be imported and you get a confirmation message on the Nativ Vita’s LCD that “0 of X tracks have been ripped successfully” the problem is likely linked to an improper connection between the Nativ Vita Music Player and the Nativ Disc CD Ripper. Please confirm the following:1) The USB cable that came with the Nativ Disc is connected to …a) the USB port (Type A) next to the Ethernet port on the Nativ Vita.b) to the USB port (Type B) on the Nativ Disc (Type B is the squarish looking USB port).2) The Power supply for the Nativ Disc is connected to the USB port (Type A) on the Nativ Disc.Note: Without stating the obvious please also make sure your Nativ Vita has a built-in hard disk drive. This is required for ripping CDs to the Vita.7
- How do I eject a CD if it is stuck? Mehr erfahren
Please go to Settings > Music Library > CD Importing and tap on the EJECT button.
In the rare case that the Vita crashes when trying to eject the CD please try the following:1) Unplug the Nativ Disc from the Nativ Vita2) Boot up the Vita3) Go to Settings > Music library > CD importing4) Plug in the Nativ Disc and immediately and repeatedly press the EJECT button in the settings page.
This problem can happen if the connection between the Nativ Vita and the Nativ Disc is not correct. Here is how the two devices should be connected:
1) The USB cable that came with the Nativ Disc is connected to …
a) the USB port (Type A) next to the Ethernet port on the Nativ Vita.3
b) to the USB port (Type B) on the Nativ Disc (Type B is the squarish looking USB port).
2) The Power supply for the Nativ Disc is connected to the USB port (Type A) on the Nativ Disc.
